Clotilde Lebas

Clotilde Lebas teaches anthropology at the University of Nanterre. Working from field surveys conducted in France and in Algeria, she is looking at how women reconfigure their lives when they find themselves in situations of rupture and exclusion. Her research questions how assignment of a sexual order are incorporated. Her intention is to make apparent the norms that perpetuate an ordering of society according to gender, but also to account for attempts to blur the dividing lines between men and women. Besides her research activities, Clotilde Lebas runs ethnology workshops for schools.
