New Directions in Jewellery II

By

The second book by English publishers Black Dog to take stock of contemporary jewelry practice in the new millennium. The geographical spread is not too bad and the jewelry itself is nicely introduced with short texts (by Beccy and Indigo Clark) and a judicious use of object-only and contextual photography. Amy Sackville’s introduction sets the tone and Lin Cheung’s manifesto ‘Wear, wearing, worn: The Transitions of Jewels to Jewellery’ is a solid attempt to position contemporary jewelry among the larger category of adornment. This is a useful publication for anyone wanting an introduction to what’s been going on in the last decade.
