AARON FABER GALLERY HOSTS PHILIPP MUNSTEINER’S NEW YORK DEBUT
Philipp—fifth-generation gem sculptor and youngest member of the world-renowned family of gem artists—came up with the idea of cutting “dragon eggs” from the fantasy story Eragon. In the tale, the dragon egg chooses its rider itself and only hatches when it has found the right rider. When moved, Philipp’s cutting reveals the inside or the growing dragon. Teeth, claws and scales are revealed in all their primeval beauty in the light. Who will be their dragon rider? BOOK—ATTAI CHEN: ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE
This monograph, published by Arnoldsche, gives insight into the oeuvre of the Israeli jewelry artist, in which the cycle of becoming and passing, among other things, plays a central role. Chen’s jewelry, worn directly on the body, touches on core issues of human existence. The objects are presented in photos that reflect their true dimensions. With texts by the art historian Glenn Adamson and the philosopher Sool Park. More.
BOOK—J 01 TEREZA SEABRA
Cristina Filipe’s book considers the correlations Seabra’s jewelry establishes with the cultures she experienced and the artefacts and jewelry she researched in India. The visual narrative is constructed on symbolic and formal affinities between the works and crosses different phases without pretending to be a retrospective. The book doesn’t follow a chronological order and is successively challenged by the visual and written documentation the artist gathered. The text is oriented by key pieces from her career and creates relationships of proximity and distance between them. In Portuguese and English. More.
