Titanesque, a 2017 Exhibition at Galerie Elsa Vanier

Welcome! AJF believes that essays, dissertations, and other writing about art jewelry deserve to be readily accessible, researched, and savored. Enjoy.

For the 2nd edition of “Parcours Bijoux” in Paris, Elsa Vanier wanted to bring together new designers from all over the world and our permanent designers. Since the sale of jewelry from overseas carries numerous constraints in light of France’s very demanding regulations on precious metals, and having admired titanium jewelry in Geneva and at MAD, an exhibition on titanium seemed a perfect and very contemporary solution. Titanium is a beautiful metal, non-allergenic and perennial. Since it requires very little gold, or none in some technical parts, titanium jewelry is classified as objects of art and not “precious” jewels, as far as French regulations are concerned. Vanier succeeded in convincing five French designers to embark on the titanium adventure, alongside Florence Croisier, who is already well known for her titanium jewelry.
